Hockey isn’t the first thing you think of when you think Bakersfield. Most people think it’s pretty hard to get water to freeze in one hundred degree weather. Of course, they play inside which makes it significantly easier to do the whole giant ice cube thing but still Bakersfield and ice hockey aren’t really synonymous.
Usually you say, “I’m from Bakersfield,” and people think of things like country music, Buck Owens, isn’t that someplace in the desert and sometimes they may even think where the heck is that? Almost never do you hear, “Oh isn’t that where they play ice hockey.”
The Condors, in their 15th season, have certainly changed that perception. That’s right we have professional ice hockey right here in the middle of the San Joaquin “desert”.
The games are great fun. If you’ve never been to a game this is chance to get in on the fun on the cheap and get an awesome jersey just like the team wears at the same time. If you’re a regular or a semi- regular attendee, see above.
