Today’s deal is $20 for four admissions to public ice skating and skates at San Joaquin Community Hospital Ice Center. Now that the weather has turned a bit cooler, it's time to start thinking of those wonderful winter pastimes we have in Bakersfield, like Downhill Skiing, Sledding, Snowboarding and Ice Skating. ....what....we don't have all those in Bakersfield? Well, at least, we have the most important one...ICE SKATING!!
Even if you don’t have moves like Sasha Cohen or Evan Lysacek, skating can be fun. Don’t worry nobody is going to invite Dick Button to the rink to critique your double Axel or triple Salchow. Of course, I can’t guarantee your family and friends aren’t going to give you a hard time for falling more times than leaves on an oak tree in fall. But don't worry about it, just get out there and have some fun.
By the way, the Salchow jump, just to keep up on your trivia load, is named for the Swedish figure skater who won 10 World Championships between 1901 and 1911. The Axel is named for Axel Paulsen the Norwegian skater who invented it in the late 1800’s. It is by the way the only competitive jump that starts while the skater is going forward.
Today’s deal is $20 for four admissions to public ice skating and skates at San Joaquin Community Hospital Ice Center. The Center also has figure skating lessons or hockey lessons that you can take. It has hockey leagues if you want to get out there and mix it up Condor-style.
What a great place for a birthday party, huh? It would be a unique, fun, physical active party that the youngsters are sure to remember for a long time. They'll say things like, "Remember that birthday Dad did a face plant on the ice trying to do a jump?" Or "Mom sure did look good doing those spins like Dorothy Hamill whoever that is."
Buy today’s deal and enjoy the cool of the frozen water as you glide happily over it while spending less on the admission. Just make sure you don’t run into the Zamboni.
