Golf is a funny sport. That’s not something you want to say to a guy who just hooked his ball into the knee high weeds or someone who just hit into the water hazard…three times in a row. But it has some odd terms and the game itself is a little funny in that you stand in the middle of a field, hit a little ball with a stick into a hole and not just any hole but a specific hole. Funny.
Much like cricket golf has some unique terms. For example, for over and under par you have the terms birdie, eagle and bogie. Now an eagle is a bird so where does the term bogie fit in? Why not call one over par a hawk, barn swallow or penguin? Another example is that nowadays clubs have numbers like 2 iron and 3 wood but back in olden times when golf was invented the clubs had names. Names like mashy-niblick for a 7 iron and a brassie for a two wood. You see funny.

Not only is a great looking golf course but it beautiful space for wedding or other special banquet or party. I’ve actually hosted a wedding there and the staff was quite helpful, the food was tasty and the location was beautiful.
Don’t forget to stop by the restaurant for some delicious food. The amazing views from the dining room at Riverlakes Ranch are reason enough to come inside and spend some time. Out the window, you’ll overlook the beautiful, blue pond that surrounds the sculpted 18th green and down the perfectly manicured fairway to the 18th tee box. Look for their daily specials or come by for Taco Tuesdays or Thursdays.
Today’s deal is half off of two rounds after 10 am of weekday golf at The Links at Riverlakes Ranch. This is your chance to bring a friend and laugh at the funny game of golf. I don’t suggest laughing at your friend unless you are good at ducking flying golf clubs but I do suggest having fun. Get out in the field, chase a ball, and enjoy the outdoors, the “fresh” air and the challenge of a game that takes minutes to learn and years to master.
